Roof Operating Switch Problem

Hi there, hope everyone is well.

I've got a problem with the roof operating switch on my 2005 Z4 in that my local garage has said its faulty. It sends a signal fine to the motor to unlock the roof which happens but there is no signal to retract the roof.
They advise replacing the switch and trying to get a 2nd hand one if poss as £200 new from BMW.
Has anyone had the same problem and if so how did you resolve other than the obvious buying a new switch.
I'm looking to sell the car in the Spring so trying to save a few pennies where I can.

Adrian, when you press the roof open button, does the roof unlatch and the windows drop?

If they do, then it’s not the switch. It’s far more likely that the motor has failed, probably due to water getting to it. It’s very common!

There’s a few members on here that can sort motor failures, quickly and at very reasonable costs. Put your location in your description and I’m sure someone will reply offering assistance.

Mine does this aswell . Haven’t looked at it yet . Doesn’t unlatch and flashes red constantly. Looks like it could be wiring on mine .
