Roof not working

This morning I tried to put the roof down on my Z4 and nothing happened except for the amber light coming on when I press the lowering switch button. There was no noise or anything, can anybody help please with regards to fault finding?
The loop release in the boot is in the correct position.
many thanks

Could possibly be the microswitch in the boot front face that the shelf pushes on.
Also check the fuses, including the big fat 40A one.

Another thought. Has the battery been disconnected? If so, you may have to do a window reset as the roof will not move if it doesn't know where the windows are.

I've not had a flat battery or had to disconnect it either.
Not sure if this makes any difference but when I press the open button I get the amber light by the open switch coming on,however if I press the close button I have no light next to the switch coming on? I might be confusing myself! :)

Well this morning I saw that part of the microswitch was not connected properly so I removed the switch and connected the wires together.it all now working as it should.
So I wonder if it is okay to leave it like this without it causing me any problems?

Was it the small metal armature?

If it’s resecured then you should be ok

Yes it's like a small arm although I'm not sure where it fits on the centre piece where it came from.

I managed to refit the arm but it soon comes off again so I will stay with the wiring bridged together as it works and is tidy. :)

You can always order a new complete switch. Which I had to do when mine went bad. Think it was around $45 USD.

It looks like it could be a common problem like the motor.
I did think that the microswitch looked very flimsy.
