Roof not working, flashing red light.

Left work put the roof down as normal and enjoyed the drive home, when i pressed the roof up button all i got was a flashing red light, had to pull the red cable and get my brother to help lift the roof up and lock it down. I would like the motor (if fixable, new if not) moved into the boot, I'm in Suffolk but think the nearest chap who does this is Bowser ? how much if fixable and how much if a new motor is required ?

Thanks !

What happens when you press the button to lower the roof? Do your windows drop and does the roof unlatch from the screen? If they don't, it's not your motor.
Mine did the same and the problem was a broken wire in the loom in the front of the roof.

Hi mine is the same press button windows drop and roof unlatches but red light only flashes, whilst pressing the button you can manually put it down... same for going up....

How long have you put up with it ? once is enough for me, wanted the motor moved to the boot anyway was just waiting for my wages to be paid in (ironically paid in this morning).

The roof was down, couldn't raise it, just a flashing red light.

BUT what happens now when you try to lower it on the button, do your windows drop and does it unlatch from the screen as normal?

Its currently raining, so no idea ! hopefully Bowser134 can sort it out (whatever the problem is) on Saturday.

I thought when you pulled the red cable in the boot you disconnected the whole mechanism from the button and had to remove the panel from the front of the roof and latch/unlatch manually. Is that not the case? You can still use the button for latching/unlatching? My motor is a gonna but I've lived without dropping the roof since rather than pull the red boot cable as I didn't want to mess anything else about.

I pulled and turned the bowden cable several times and the roof took my brother and I a fair bit of effort to raise it, I'm seeing Boswer134 on Sunday morning to fix it and move the motor into the boot so not long now :driving:

There are two motors for the roof, one Unlatches the roof from the screen , the other works the folding mechanisum . The bypass cable ( Bowden cable with red handle in boot ) only affects the folding mechanisum motor , the unlatch motor in the roof panel near the screen is unaffected by the bypass cable in the boot .

Just got back from Bowser134's with a new shiny roof motor nicely packaged in the boot :D really couldn't believe the difference, so much quicker and quieter than the old one. Was a pleasure to meet Ross, and I'm happy to reccomend him to anyone else with a dicky roof

Having replaced my motor by removing the entire roof, I now have a functioning roof however the red light ends up flashing when the roof is fully opened. The motor only stops when the button is released.

Have I missed some switch or something that will turn off the opening activity when the roof is fully open ?

:x :x :( :x :x

Sounds like your roof sensor for the open position isn't being triggered to stop the motor . Either you knocked it out of position whilst the roof was out or the roof is a few mm out from where it was , it only take a small mount for them to not register . Try loosing the main frame bolt behind the door pillars and jiggling the frame about to get it to stop the motor running . Sometimes I loosen them and then operate the roof up and down a few times and it can sort of the alignment of the sensors , if they are only a smidge out .

Of course it could be a dodgy sensor too but I'd try what I'm suggesting first if that doesn't work get a code reader scan and see if the sensor is shot .
