Roof not fully opening

But it take it sending power direct to the motor and it still wont move so the front part of the roof catch or motor must be jammed in position.
Puuh, not yet any idea how to get this solved. Unfortunately there is no Z4 next to me to get an idea from inside of the car...

Like i said check that rear hall sensors connector.

My friend had a flashing Brake warning on his car, two visits to dealer not fixed it.
I did, we found next to no fluid in brake reservoir sloshing around.

Look for simple things first.

I did check the boot ram ones and not sure if its just me but I cant even pull the hall sensor plugs apart on my car, i read somewhere they are factory heat sealed, not sure how true that is but I couldnt get them to budge.

Been looking on ebay at the roof liners to see if I can spot where the clips are. By the look of it hopefully it will come off without lifting the roof .

Nonsense!
The plug itself has a smal nose, that keeps both plug housings together. Can be lifted by a tiny screw driver.
The rear HS is just clipped into the ram like the other one. Remove the zip first and don't forget to replace it with a new one. Post a picture of the 2nd.

Check the 2nd one at first before killing the roof linning!

Have a look here first.

On my car the connector with blue paint on was slightly pulled out, no barb to lock it.
I pushed it in as far as could and super glued it, no problem since.
A into B, cable tied C.

Connector for the rear Hall switch.
Might be different inspectors paint colour.

I will replace the other hall sensor as I have a new one and will check to see if the old one was loose. I will also try to grab a few pictures, my plugs didnt want to come apart even using a small flat head screw driver. wasnt a problem as had to solder on new sensor.

If you look at the pic which is not mine but lifted from ebay. does it separate on the far left pushing a small screw driver into the tiny square hole just to the right of it?

Hall sensors die while getting rusty INSIDE! That's why a picture is required ...

Loose connectors are only a result of unfriendly mechanics or semi profis. BMW connectors always have a locking pin, which may not be destroyed by just tearing it out! Glueing a connector never ever is the correct solution.

Gluing was my cars solution.
If someone before me broke the connector, what is the solution, mess around replacing.
Gluing did the job.

Hey for me it may not be the the correct way but if it works its a win and if it fails you know where to look next time . I wouldn't say its much worse than me replacing Hall sensors with ones from 1/2 series cars that i then have to solder in but £!5 vs £210 for the z4 part had a lot to do with it :o

Just a little update I carefully removed the roof liner today which went well which exposed a very rusty and totally seized solid motor. A Used replacement complete assembly Ordered for £50 so all being well will fit that and a reset the ctm and it should be cheap easy fix.

Gosh that’s really really bad…any signs of how / where the water got in?

How difficult was access?

No thats the strange thing I couldn't see nowhere and leak could reach it, But I do know the car did spend a while with one of the window left part open when sat up. which I think also caused the corrosion it had an a couple of pins on the BCM that i had to replace.
In all honesty it was a job I was dredging but turned out to be an easy job, I think 2 plastic clips broke which I already have replacements but zero damage to the roof lining thats the main thing.
