Roof Not Closing All The Way

Hi,

New to the forum, looking for some friendly advice.

The roof on my Z does not close all the way down. Seems to be something on the right hand side only not folding away properly. The catch in the middle of the roof does not latch because of this either.

Has anyone had any experience of something similar? Any advice would be appreciated, I have not tried to force it down (yet...) thought I'd try the experienced folk on here before going for brute force and ignorance.

It goes through the operation of closing and opening fine so motor seems good - was thinking could be something with the folding mechanism??

Cheers,

Rory.

Common problem usually caused by the edge of the roof not folding correctly. There is a thread on there somewhere that shows what to do.

You've probably got the common folding issue... but just in case, another idea.

Mine started doing it in the cold weather last winter (I have the roof down as long as it's not raining, too hard, no matter how hot or cold) - it wasn't obvious at first glance, but you could push it down about 1 more centimetre and it clicked. Bit of light grease on the folding mechanism sorted it!

did a bit of digging and found a small plastic flap type thing rattling round in the space the hood lives in when its down? Oh and also a small torch was living in there as well!!

might add at this point i've had my zed for only two days... Who leaves a torch in there???? :o

so i'm fairly convinced that this is what was stopping the roof from closing fully...however, I now have a plastic flap which is not connected where it should be...does anyone know what this is likely to be and if I need to re-clip it onto anywhere to help the function of the roof?

pic of both - torch just for comedic effect...

there is one either end of the move-able tray in the top of the boot .
If you look through the back window with the roof up you should be able to see the one that is still fitted .
You may be able to refit it by going over the back of the seats but a trained ferret might be needed
