Roof motor :(

My roof stopped working, nothing suddenly, no window lowering. After posting on here, I was told to check the micro switch and after a spray of electrical cleaner, it's now working again. Thanks

And where is said micro switch ???

The micro switch is in the boot on the panel that is directly behind the seats, roughly in the middle.

Open boot, stand looking in and at the centre of the back panel. You will need to bend and look up a little, There's a black plastic recessed panel, in the bottom left of which, lives the switch (been a while since I replaced mine, pretty sure it was bottom left) You may need to raise the parcel shelf thingy. The visible part of the switch is a small metal clip.

Note - If the micro switch is not working, there will be no action whatsoever at the roof lower/raise button. The windows won't drop, roof unlock nothing!

and silicone to seal the motor housing up properly because you only want to do this once, right?
If you only want to this once, I recommend that you relocate the roofmotor to the boot, as done by several forummembers.

Cheers for that, It's not the switch then because the windows will go down and the front roof locks unlock.

Another Question on roof !!! I'm opening it manually at the moment as follows...... Press open button to unlatch the front catches, then manually left the roof and fully open......my question now is how do I get the latch (the one in the front on the roof) that holds the roof down in the center of the car just behind you head to pop out ? it seems to be stuck in the open position. Is there a manual override for this latch or is this at fault as well ??

Cheers
JJ

JJ - I would not on a regular basis manually operate the roof. Judging by the tread yours has been dead for 4 months or so.
winter and you probably not doing it much, but the frame is delicate alloy and easily damaged by the odd forces applied to manually move it.
You could well end up with a much bigger problem than a motor to fix

Well cj that's made me feel loads better.....NOT.....
And your right I've not had it down much at all but was just had it open in the sun yesterday to help dry it out a tad inside, been fed up of it condensating up all the time (due to water leak in boot which I still haven't sussed out yet). this is when I noticed the latch not working.

Sorry about that news
You really need to fix the leaks, else it's a downward spiral of water, damp, failures, etc.
Opening windows is enough to air it out without dropping the roof. I have a hardtop...
