Hydraulic oil £25.92 - So they're intending on spilling this are they?? I've done 2 and not managed to spill a drop. Oh and you can use motor oil instead

Regarding the insulation, just give it a good wash out with detergent and leave to dry; mine motor housing was 6" deep in manky, rusty water but after a good wash and dry it looked like new.
Nearly £50 for a bit of shaped foam is daylight robbery as is the £400 for a £20 motor, not including the hydraulic housing.

Well, i just give up on mine after it packed up 4 times and brought a recon. 
up to now its working great!

Did it yesterday afternoon after work, started 15.10 roof on the floor 15.26 16 minutes to remove the roof! How come it takes a dealership 8 hours and £1200!!!!!! :x

You fitted your recon motor now Tug? Mine arrived yesterday but been away all week in north wales all week! My Dads away on the week so looks like i'll have to find some to give me a hand lifting the assembly back in or postpone till next weekend Hopefully goes back together with now problems.

Hi Dan, edited my post while you were posting. Word of advice though, make sure you tape up the edge where the hoop goes back in, make it a thick layer of painters tape.
Also, once the hoop is back in and motor is sitting correctly, dont try to put the bolts back into the post's. Using the boden cable lift roof so it is half way closed, then re-fit the weather stripping around where the hoop has just gone in, then push the roof to fully closed position (it doesn't need locking down)
You will now find that the holes are lined up ready to bolt back in.
Another pointer, after bolts are tightened remove weather stripping again (with roof again in the half way position) Have your dad in the boot and make sure the hoop has gone back into the brackets on both sides or you will have big probs re-bolting the hoop back. Now you can put weather stripping back in place and the holes will be lined up on the hoop ready to re- bolt.

Ive never tried it, but that sounds bloody good going to me.

If my roof broke, it would just stay down as it only comes out on dry days anyway
However, that said, I do make a point of opening and closing the roof every time I drive it, just to keep it moving. It lives with the roof up, drives with the roof down, as Im told thats best practice.

Yeah flys up and down now! Was a struggle getting in back in tho did it last night was a learning curve tbh but now i know would be much easier i wish i got your number now would of needed some help! My Dad helped me loads tho! should of taken it out with him would of been better! The motor was going the wrong way so swapped the cables at the plug was easier than taking it all out again!tug said:
