ROOF MOTOR WORKING FINE......

Hi,
I hate being a pain but ive tried all the searches but nothings matching my problem.....

I removed the roof of my 2008 Z4 straight after purchase to give the whole car a complete clean.....

The roof was 100% Functional on removal....
After the clean i replaced the roof and fully fitted it again -
the roof would -
Unlatch and then begin to give a buzzing motor noise and would not raise or lower....

so i decided to remove the top again,

i then stripped the motor and the electronic side of the motor was spinning freely with direcr power.......
anyone any idea on what could be the problem of why the hydraulic end isnt functional to drive the roof? :headbang:

thanks a lot Niall

i did pull it to help with the movement of the roof during the removal, although it does seem quite loose now and im not 100% sure it has fully been reset as there is about 0.5/1cm play in the cable :|

i firstly thought that was the problem also,

does this run in the basis that when the cable is pulled it presses the lever to push the little copper nib into the motor,
thus allowing the fluid to flow freely?
i have tried both this pressed in and without any metal contact, both options failing....

My Indy had this problem after replacing my hood motor. My Bowden cable needed replacing because it wasn't activating the button on the motor.

to be fully operational does the brass nib have to be pushed in then?
can you buy a replacement bowden cable?

To operate normally the brass button should be out, so It could be stuck (seized In) common problem, my motor was F%^ed and I couldn't put it into bypass because the button was seized ..OUT , that was a pita to fix !

Hi, I'm way down south.... Kerry area,

Can't remember exactly how many mm's but I'll be home in a few days, I can check on my spare roof motor.

I'm not sure how you could un-seize this button other than spraying it with WD40 as you can't grip it when it's in(flush), It might be possible to dismantle the HYd pump and get access to the other side of this button and help free it up ! good luck :)
