Roof Motor under warranty

I didn't even realise they check the motor and drain holes as part of Inspection 2 - revelation to me.

They don't........

The dealer told me that they carry out a visual inspection of the drain holes from underneath as part of inspection 2

I'm currently talking to Consumer Direct with my stonewalling by BMW, I've found them to be pretty useful and they pass the details on to Trading Standards.
Give them a call (08454 04 05 06), if you do it may be worth sharing our reference numbers (and others that have this problem) so they can start building a comprehensive case against Mondial/BMW/stealers.

That won't do very much then.

Have to agree with Alan though, I've never seen a service schedule that has shown it and not aware other than yourself of anybody on here saying the dealer has checked their drains.

'Underneath' is suitably vague, but plausible - however they would have to take both rear wheels off, and bits (if not all) of the arch liners. Even then, they could visually inspect the plug but that would just tell them there was crud/no crud at the bottom of the drain... I think they made that up, just for you (and anyone else that asks). After all, unless you're on a forum like this, why would you doubt them

Update....
Full refund on all monies paid so far. Although no acceptance under warranty, BMW customer service will cover the full cost. No compensation for being a bunch of wa***rs, but all fixed with. 2 year warranty.
All in all satisfied :D

Good result, their way of not admitting liability

But now flogging the car :)

I know, fallen out of love, not advertising it else where so in no rush to sell. That said new addition on the way in March so even less opportunity to drive.

I just experienced a roof motor failure on my 06 plate 3.0si and took it to North Oxford BMW who replaced it under my insured warrabty with no questions asked! Bill would have been north of 2K apparently!! I'm actualkly thinking of selling her now for no other reason than I fancy a C2S.

@z4Junkie
Can you confirm that it was BMW Insured Warranty and not AUC please, I got the runaround from the dealership I took it to initally so I'm looking for another
dealership even if it's not local?

Thanks
Dave

I know this is an old thread, but I'm duking it out with my dealership this week over the warranty covering/not covering the roof hydraulic pump (the "motor"). They say water intrusion (due to blocked drains)has invalidated my BMW certified pre-owned warranty coverage on that part. Mine is a 2007. My warranty expires April 30, and it's at the dealership now.

For us yanks, what is the equivalent of Consumer Direct and Trading Standards? The Better Business Bureau is all that springs to mind.

marchantsuk, I'm hoping to follow your lead on getting BMW to cover this repair. Congrats on seeing it through to the end!
