Roof motor sluggish

Hi guys thanks for adding me. New owner of a beautiful Z4 e85 3.0. car is stunning. I'm going to be sorting out the usual disa valve and bits soon. I'm a bit confused with the roof, the motor was relocated in march this year previous owner had it done . Symptoms are the roof latches open fine but the roof needs me to open it a few inches to get it going. Closing the roof is effortless. .
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Welcome. :) The roof shouldn't need any help. Something is not right. Several forum members who know there roof motors. Where abouts are you. Then we should be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi and welcome.
I'm not an expert by any means (and I'm sure one will be along shortly) but this sounds similar to my mates symptoms.
Although the motor had been relocated, the hydraulic fluid had not been topped up :o
BTW - be good to see some pics of your pride and joy

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Photos would definitely be appreciated, and I hope you can get your roof motor sorted!

I will add some pictures tomorrow, I have already checked the oil level, I assume you use the plug on the reservoir, I topped it up till it overflowed .

Hi guys I know this is a common issue, with the rain I have not had a chance to get out there and fix the issue.
Roof goes up fine with no issues. My roof motor has been relocated to the boot
When putting the roof down the latches operate and open but the roof needs help to go down I can here the motor in the boot turning.

I Have checked the fluid that seems fine, I have been told to swap the lines around and the electrical connections I can see that this will show that the rams and pipes are fine if the roof retracts well but it struggles to shut.

I have been looking on line at others when they have done the roof motor relocation, and one guy said its important to line the holes on the banjo bolts with the hydraulic lines ???.

I have a slight issue with my roof, I know this is a commy issue with the car. It has been relocated by the previous owner in march to the boot. It needs a helping hand to open for the first few inches. When opening you can hear the motor turning . I have tried swapping the lines and electrical terminals motor opens fast but struggles to close. I have checked and topped up the fluid,I have marked it too see if there are any leaks . So the system must work as it goes up and down fine if the lines are changed and I can hear the motor when it is trying to move so I'm a little sruck. Any advice I would be greatful

I think the hydraulic pump can wear & become weak :?
