Roof motor replacement in Burton -on-Trent area

I thought I had got away with it after cleaning out the drains and faultless operation of the roof. Unfortunately, I was wrong and yesterday it failed. Could anyone recommend the best action for repair and/or replacement? By this I mean suggestions of local independents or is it best to take it to a main dealer. I have neither the time or facilities to attempt this repair myself so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A good indie will be substantially less than a main dealer. Sorry to hear it's failed. I can't help with an indie up there but I think Mafoo's sig has a link to a list of forum recommended indies

Tapatalking...

it took me about 4/5 hours and a set of torx drivers to do it (in our back garden). There are no specialist tools required but being limber enough to get into the boot is handy.

I know a very good indie in burton on trent.

Burton motor workshop..... Initials are bmw!

I got an interim service and recoding done by them, very professional.

Thanks for the information. I intend phoning Burton Motor Workshop in the morning and I shall also try Autotech Performance at Telford as they have glowing write ups from forum members. Cheers again.

Got my roof done for £700 altogether recently in Birmingham by specialist. Quoted me first at £450 for the hydraulic pump but the roof wouldn't attach to the windscreen and then said another part needed replacing hence extra charge. Dealers were quoting over a thousand.

Hey Andy, did you get yours done at Burton? Mine's just packed up and I'm looking for somewhere around Derby to get it done. Stratstone wanted £450 just to diagnose the problem!

Tell me about it - I wondered how the service manager kept a straight face.

Fair play to them, though - they put the roof back up for me, when I did know about the red handle.Anyone else have any dealings with them? Was going to get it serviced there, but might head to Sytner in Notts instead.

2nd Oct, have just had mine repaired today, by Pete at Autotech in Telford. Brilliant job, saved over £800 quoted by another local dealer (C0V) so worth the hour half drive. Good service and HIGHLY RECOMMEND. So dont hesitate and call him. easy to find, did a diagnostic and softwear up grade for free. Will go there again if any other BIG jobs, want doing. Just need the weather now to use LOL
