Well where do I start........
Got motor off other week and replaced with a spare one from mac27040.
After talking with mac today I thought seeing as though mine was totally dead then what harm could I do taking it to bits to try and see why.
The body is only made up of two parts, the main housing and a press fit end cap which houses the little circuit board and motor brushes.
I managed to get the end cap off by tapping a small screwdriver under the four lugs until it came free, this then allowed me to tap the armature out which also pushed out the brush/board.
Once out I could see the whole unit inside was all brown a gunky and the brushes were stuck solid. I managed to free and clean everything up with some electrical solvent cleaner in a spray can and a brush.
I then had a look at the armature. The pickup parts that the brushes contact with were all rusty looking so I managed to clean them up with some fine wet and dry sand paper.
This was all the parts as clean as I could get them so I put it all back together and tapped the end cap back it place, popped a couple of leads onto the two terminals and tried it on a battery and to my surprise it spun up like a dream. Swapped the leads over and it spun up just as well it the opposite direction.
So if you have a duff motor and fancy giving it a go then what have you to loose, it proves they can be brought back to life
Oh and sorry there's no pics to go with my findings as my phone was in the house and I couldn't be bothered to get it, I was more interested in getting the thing to bits
