Roof motor removed in 40mins Durham Dave

Today I drove all the way to Durham from Essex to see Dave to get my roof motor moved to the boot, I needed to bond with the car as it has only done local miles in just over a year (under 100) so I blew off the cobwebs and went north.
Dave had my motor out and located in the boot in less than an hour. But get this he said he has never seen an original one bone dry as mine and he has done loads. Not a drop of water has been anywhere near it. Dave is an honest man and I was glad to meet him and his son

Dave

Looks brand new! Has it been garaged all its life? That's the only possible way it would look like that, unless it was changed by a previous owner?

I'd have to say that, and the housing has been replaced, and recently. Even normal grit and grime through dry use would make it grubbier than that, and that label doesn't look 10yrs+ old, it would be peeling by now!

Well, I can only go with what Dave said to me, he said no ones has been in the location where the motor sits.
The previous owner never kept the car in a garage and so do I, its never been out in the wet in over a year so who knows

Looks great,

Where abouts in Essex are you ? And how long did it take to drive up ?

Stuart

Is Dave on this forum?

I'll need to check first where my motor is located, but will probably make the drive down from Edinburgh (even though I had the car delivered to me from Durham only 3 weeks ago :))

I went from Waltham abbey, got on to the A1 and it was plain sailing from there 4 hours, the scenery is beautiful around there.

What he said ...... That's been changed before, but on a positive, at least you can rest in peace knowing it's a new motor and it's now relocated . Nice feeling . Good job .

Top blerks Dave and Cory.
Was the first job i had done on mine when bought recently.
Did my own mini write-up in a thread that i cant seem to locate back however. Maybe deleted.
Hope you tipped them a bit extra? 80quid for this is ridiculously cheap but credit to Dave he told me he thought it was a fair price.

well if it has, I have no history in the paperwork and the previous owner kept every note about the car, maybe a dealer before.

Bringing this thread back from the grave, but Dave and his son sorted my roof out (E85 3.0si) this morning and did an outstanding job. The motor was still working but slightly slow, and was submerged in water. The roof is already working better.
He also plugged in a blue music adapter I had picked up while he was in the boot.
