So after getting my z4 and going too keep it for a long time, I'm wanting to have the roof motor relocated. Is there any members on here or in Scotland that do it? Will be for 2 Z4's mine and my pals

Hi, if you use the search function there’s a few members that offer this service

So had a search and all the roof motors are for changing down in England. If anyone has any suggestions a bit further north be highly appreciated

Yea heard great things about Durham dave. Just such a long trip. 6 hour drive each way so would need to stay somewhere so additional £££

I'm in Edinburgh and the nearest I found was Dave. I don't believe there's anyone in Scotland doing it i'm afraid

I am no mechanic but i managed to move my own following a guide i found online. Took me a full day to do it especially difficult snipping the cable ties holding the waterproof housing but got there in the end.

This might not help, but I got mine done by ducklakeview. He did it in about 20 mins maybe 30mins. However is based Liverpool way.

Cheers

Definitely another option, but that's a 90 longer drive than Durham from Inverness

Have you got a link too the online DIY guide. With it being a second car I wouldn't mind giving it a bash since travelling is the last resort

There are a few around. I read a few different ones and took tips from them. I also didnt like the idea of damaging the pipes by levering the casing out so managed to somehow reach down and snip the cable ties instead. I did it this way as i wouldnt have the skills necessary to replace a broken one.
Here are a couple to take a look at, but If you search google no doubt more will be available.

Surely we buy these type of cars as we like driving, and I would have thought a scenic trip down to Cumbria would be quite appealing, even if it did mean an overnighter ? (It would to me!)
Dave £80 + B&B £70 = An enjoyable weekend & money well spent ?? :driving:

Your just not driving fast enough! - I collected a set of tyres for one of my lads from Falkirk and was back in a day using a people carrier - from Norfolk! Nice midsummer blat down the A9 during the long light days - early start; breakfast (check the thread details for Durham Dave)while Dave moves the motors and home for tea :driving:

I travelled up from Essex with Stuartt & combined Durham Dave's motor relocation service with a great road trip, Visit to the hartside café & a drive across the Yorkshire Dales made it a journey to remember

I did it in a day from Preston - Durham Dave did the relocation in no time and I met up with CherryM and went for a blast over the tops - great driving roads, finished off with lunch and a natter before heading home :driving:
That was before other members closer to me such as Ducklakeview offered the service.

I came to that conclusion about 7am this morning and had private messaged so just waiting to hear back as I don't have his contact details. Should be good as there is 2 Z4's heading down

The a9 is the worst, ever since the dualing and the average speed cameras it's painfully slow. I'm sure we got from outside Manchester to Perth in the same time from Perth to Inverness
