I recently had my roof motor replaced with a refurbed unit and whilst at it , decided to get it moved to the boot like many others. Everything works okay except i have noticed the motor noise in the final stages of closure is much higher than before, just the last two seconds just before the locks are engaged. I am not sure if this is normal and as a result of the new position or if there is something else wrong? Has anyone else noticed this?

I know what you mean, the pitch defiantly changes the last few seconds of operation, but thats not due to relocation and it shouldn't have got louder. Mine actually got quite but that was possibly due to having the fluid level being topped up.

I would expect the pitch to change slightly as for 90% of the operation the motor is working hard, then for the last 10% the roof actually falls onto the windscreen as gravity takes over past the drop point.
Try sound insulating the motor as much as possible behind the panel and see if that helps, as before it was in a pod, wrapped in wet foam and probably under 6 inches of water, so you probably wouldn't hear it much !

They do get noisy at the extremes of operation if low on oil, as that's when the level in the reservoir can be at it lowest, allowing air into the system.
