Roof motor query

just a question regarding the roof motor on facelift models. I know they've fitted a sealed motor. Is it the motor itself that has been redesigned and sealed or the area that holds the motor ie with a cover? If it's a cover, can it be retrofitted?

Just thinking of some possible preventative maintenance things that can be done.

My zed had the seal fitted by an indy before I bought. This could could be a good preventative measure?

Mine was done after the motor failed :headbang:
 
Little point ripping the roof motor out to fit the waterproofing though when the repair is to take the roof out and remove the motor.

there's a howto on here...

it's less of a problem for your facelift 2006 MY though as they have sealed motors

Searched forum for advice on clearing drain holes but not having much luck (thread in FAQ has no longer got pictures)
Anyone have a link please?? :thumbsup:
 
BMW re-designed the exclosure to make it water tight with a special gasket and glue combination (well that's what they told me when I had mine done last year...

These have ben known to leak also, still best to keep your drain holes clear
