Hi I have just changed the roof motor and hydro unit on my z4, thanks to shopkillaz step by step, but put it all back together and I can hear the motor working but the roof dosnt move, why could this be? It's not the micro switch in back as I've checked that and like I said I can here the motor working, could this be cause of the hydralic pipes being undone and changed over to new hydro unit?? Please can someone help me!!!!
There's a red tab you pull which disengages the pump from the motor have you checked that?

A year and 2 days late for this reply lmao :)
Yeah I realised after I answered lol

Can anyone please help me!!? I have a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si, and I read a whole ton of forums on this, but I was thinking if someone knows exactly what the problem is and pinpoint me to the right direction. I got into my car yesterday, and as I was trying to close the roof it kind of started to glitch in the middle of closing and stopped. Then I restarted by pressing to open again and then close, then it just got stuck. So I checked the shelves to see if they are lowered cause maybe it is the microswitch that is defective. But it isn't the microswitch, because if it was defective then the electronic interlocks would've not closed the roof to the windshield. Manually it goes up and down, but when I put the red tab into place and try to make the hydraulic motor work again, it makes noise but doesn't do anything with the roof. And the light on the console buttons are blinking .. so I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!! Please help me, I'm out of resources. And I don't want to go to the dealership as I am currently broke, and I am a handy man guy that I can try fixing it myself. Please can someone help! :headbang:

Search the forum for roof motor relocation, and roof motor brought back to life ,there is plenty of how to on here if your handy you may be able to save your motor and make it safe from further damage
Welcome to the forum

Oil level in motor? If it makes a noise it's working? Try to locate it & check fluid level.

But to check the oil level in the motor wouldn't I have to take off the roof? Which I'm planning on doing tomorrow hopefully..how do I check it?
