Roof motor Hydraulic oil

Does anyone know what could be causing the hydraulic oil to be leaking?. Where would I check first?.
I am going to check the oil level tomorrow in the pump and top it up and see if this is what’s causing my roof to need a helping push to get it moving/open.
It closes perfectly. Thanks.

Best way to find where it's leaking is to clean all the oil off it then keep an eye on it.
just frustrating as I can’t see if the oil is low but must be coming from somewhere on it. Could be when the roof is operating open and close?

Most likely one of the hydraulic lines has corroded through, typically hose 12... https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=103196&p=1507039&hilit=Hydraulic#p1507039

is that fixable at not a big cost do you know?. Is it common for this to happen?.

Not that common but can happen if the pump assembly is sat in water for years. The hoses are replaceable as detailed in the thread I linked to. Since your motor is in the boot though you should be able to do what was advised above....clean it up and inspect carefully where the source if the leak is. It could be as simple as one of the unions not done up tightly enough.

Thank's very much and will looks at the thread. Will try and tighten up the unions once i've cleaned it up. Think i will get in touch with Durham Dave and see if i can get him to fix it. Thanks again as not car savy so any advice is much appreciated.
