Roof motor hydraulic fluid type?

Just replaced the 2 salmon pink relays and noticed the reservoir for the motor fluid looks like it needs topping up.

I have a couple of questions please:

- What type should I buy?
- I assume I just unscrew the gold coloured round nut on the left on top of the reservoir and pour it in there?

Thanks

Hey,

Oil is: OEM Part Number 54340394395
Oil Type: ZHM (i bought a bottle from Febi and it worked fine for me)

To add oil you just unscrew the gold coloured round nut on the top of the reservoir. I suggest using a syringe with a straw attached to it's head to add oil as it makes it less messy.

Also, as with brake fluid - if the reservoir really does need topping up you likely have a bigger problem, as in, a leak someplace ...

Hoping it is a bit low due to never having been topped up before! Should this type of fluid never go low?

If the roof is operating ok, and it's already been pointed out that the reservoir should only be half full, then may I suggest a photo to get opinions before you over fill it?

Hydraulic jack oil is also suitable and far cheaper than BMW stuff. It should not be overfilled as the others have said, space is needed when the fluid is expelled from the rams when it closes.

Here's a photo, not easy to see but hopefully ok to see the oil level. It's just below the minimum line by looks of it. I've looked around the boot but all looks very dry. Anywhere particularly to look for leaks? Roof operates perfectly.
