Roof motor fixed and relocated by Number5

Massive shout out to Number5 who welcomed me to his home today and took my roof off, fixed my roof motor and relocated it to the boot while I sipped tea and pretended I knew what I was doing while trying to help. He's saved me having to buy a new motor and a few bob as well! Cheers!

Yes, nice to meet you Chris. A lovely 2.5 you have to work on there. A bit of TLC and thats going to be a cracking car.

The motor was dead when we removed it. Absolutely drowned as both drains were blocked . We tested it on a 12v battery and still nothing, but a good soaking with WD40, a hairdryer and a bit of persuasion saw it come back to life. Then a few minutes of spinning it both ways warmed it up and its working fine again..

Now its relocated into the boot and the drains cleared it shoukd keep on going I reckon.

A rewarding day even though it took about 7 hours in all, and you even got to meet the legend that is Danstarr too !

Now, use the money you saved on getting those wheels sorted !!! : :poke:

(Now, I'm not sure whats happening with those attachment pictures, but those ladies definitely weren't in my garage today !)

It sure is forum power at it's best. Alan is a top bloke and knows his stuff. Alan I've found that place you we're on about with the wheels and will give them a call on Tuesday to see if I can get the wheels sorted. Then to give the roof a good clean, have a play with some clay cleaning which I learnt about today and give a good clean out under the bonnet. :D

No worries, just shout if you need any help or advice.

Also about 1 mile from you is this place, which you may find useful, to keep you out of the rain when working on it.

Great work Alan
Now Alan has the experience we could have a crack at converting yours into an e85?

Mmm don't think so - perhaps a targa top though?

I would have thought that Targa top would be about as aerodynamic as driving a bucket
