Roof lining rubbing on roof lock!

My roof lining is rubbing on the roof lock and causing marks to the lining,worried this will eventually tear the lining, is there a fix for this problem? Some of the rubber like coating on the lock has worn, my car is the facelift i believe (has the rectangle ish shape fogs complete with condensation) Any help on this would be much appreciated. :o
 
Had the same problem, took the lock out. You have to take out the centre cubby front and above it, fiddly but not difficult. Must have been about an hour and a half for me and 10 mins to put it back together!
 
ok take it there is no problems with removing the lock then? does the roof stay locked down?
 
No problem at all, just remove the bracket. Roof stays down fine and red light still goes out.

It's only what BMW did later.
 
is there a replacement trim panel to cover the gap where the lock would have been?
 
There is not. You're just going to have to bite the bullet, there's a guide on here somewhere. Take it slow to start with, lots of fiddly trim.

There is, but it means finding a whole new rear centre console piece.

You wont notice the gap though.
 
I will take a picture later as you really don't need to bother, but one from a main dealer will be mega bucks.
 
Good morning, ok i have removed the lock, tbh honest looking at it before i removed it i don't think it was locking in place anyway, the car has had a new roof motor in the past so maybe was not fitted back correctly...anyway lock gone and i am going to sound like a broken record ...is it 100% ok with out the lock..sorry i am a worrier :o
