Roof leaking

Well I did a little bit of experimenting with trying to determine why I had water in the trunk and battery box. I kept hosing down the rear section of the roof. I found that the water somehow gets into the area behind the seats. The part behind the speakers. It seeps in and collects onto a dishlike thingy on the left and right side. In a hard rain it probably collects enough water to make it overflow into the trunk area and eventually into the battery box.
Are there any threads here that have addressed this problem? :(

I would say the holes in the side trays where the top motor is is clogged!!

Search for that there are articles here about cleaning out the compartment

Thanks for the post. I'll try to get at it this weekend or at least get a look at what I'm getting myself into. I only noticed a few little drops of water on the right side but quite a bit more on the left side(I guess by the motor). I don't know if this might also be a problem, but I did notice where the top butts up against the rubber trim, on one area there is a visual gap between the canvass and the rubber trim. Most of the top butts up tightly to the rubber trim but I can actually slide my fingers between the canvass and the trim so I guess there's about 3/8" of a gap.

Maybe I'm misreading where you are finding this gap, but if between the canvas of the roof and the rubber seal on the trunk then it's not really important. Lower the roof half way and turn off the ignition. You should be able to feel all around in that area if the canvas in intact and correctly connected all the way around. Bet you find some slime in there, but hopefully no tears or gaps...

I think we are talking about the same thing. That rubber seal that runs from the door, all the way around to the other door. Goes between the canvas and the metal edges of the fenders and the piece of metal in front of the trunk lid. That's a good tip about lowering the top half way to check if the canvas is fastened all the way around. I did give that a thought but I was a little leary about stopping the lowering process 1/2 way. I thought maybe I'd screw something up. :? I'll for sure get a look at that. Thanks.

Yes - same thing. I've no worries about stopping it halfway. Actually after a few minutes it will sink down of its own accord anyway.

+1 Good way to clean around the base of the roof as well :D

Well, I did get a chance to put the top halfway down and check the canvass where it attaches to the metal. I really couldn't see anything that looked like a problem. Both sides looked the same. Also, with the top up, I took a bottle of water and slowly poured water down the rear window and watched to see if water would come out the designated drains. It looked like the drains were doing their job just fine. BUT, :? even though I saw the drains working I guess they could have been partially blocked and only letting a partial amount to pass through. I do know they are draining, I just don't know if they're draining 100%.
I have another appointment with the dealer this coming Monday to see if they can determine the cause of the water getting to the trunk. It's a good thing I still have warranty left. I might as well get all the bugs worked out while I'm still covered.

For sure drains can be partially blocked. I had the windscreen wiper trim off and was amazed at the silt in the drain there. Although it worked it allowed a level to build up before running out slowly. (FYI - this one can be cleaned from inside the bonnet)

Do post the outcome as it will be interesting what they point to

I will be sure to update the situation. Thanks for all the helpful tips. :) Also I'm getting the audio system checked out too. I'm pretty sure my 2 sub woofers behind the seat are out. I'm wondering if the water in the battery box got into the amp circuitry for the subs? :(
