Roof leak on both sides…..

I have water ingress into the cabin on both sides. I did a trickle test, and can see the water entering the cabin at this seal:

I’ve recently treated all the seals with gummi pflege but there is obviously a bigger issue?

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start resolving this? I’ve put a rain cover on it for now, but I need to resolve this.

You could try some silicone rubber grease on the joint, I use it on all my rubbers as well as the gummi pflege

Thanks for that. Ordered a tube and collecting today. I’ll give all the seals another good clean, re-apply the gummi then apply the grease. I guess that’s the only option available to me now. Had a look out of curiosity at new seals and the price isn’t far off the value of the car!

Including fitting or not?
 
If it’s a compression issue, is there any way to micro adjust the roof shells? It operates absolutely fine, and when I applied gummi last time, all seals looked to be in good condition.

FWIW mine used to leak from the front trim and whistle with the wind...it magically fixed itself with some trim nourishment,,
 
Thanks for all the replies. I’ve retreated the area on both seals with gummi, and also applied a layer of silicone grease on both.

Again, all seals look clean and in good condition, and they seem to mate fine when closing roof.

I should say that last night the rain was biblical! I can’t say I have noticed ingress when driver, but I suppose the water isn’t having time to run down when moving through the air.

Hopefully this will do the trick.
 
Quick update. After applying the gummi and silicone grease, the water ingress appears to have stopped after a fairly heavy spell of rain today.

For extra insurance, I 3-D printed a syringe with a 2mm tip and some spatulas, and applied a small bead of the grease in the rubber channel between the two shells.

It’s a 20 second job, and happy to re-apply when necessary if it keeps the cabin dry.

I just had a look at my car and the gap is much smaller than yours between the two sections :-

The only time I get a small dribble is when a pressure washer is directed on the corners to the top of the windscreen/roof...and the handbook warns you about this .

Thanks for this. You are correct, when you look at both photos in comparison there is absolutely a difference in the gap size. In mine, there is a an inner secondary part of the seal on display.

Not sure what the solution is for me rather than keeping it plugged with grease!
 
Looks like the seals have shrunk slightly, you could try warming both sides over a wide area with a hairdryer then see if they will pull back together, they’d need to be pretty warm and you’d need to hold them in place until they cool but worth a try.
 
Trying to think outside the box here. If a managed to get a thin piece of rubber (EDMP foam tape perhaps, cut it to shape and bond it to the existing seal, do you think that would work?

The main seal between the two roof panels is still working fine, no water, it’s just these two corner elements.
