Roof issues

I'm dreading the answer here, but...

Roof starts to go down, gets about 20mm into the move and stops. Red light flashes and it wont go any further. :headbang:

It will then close fine but if I try to open it again, I get the same issue.

I fitted a gapTech recently, so maybe its that rather than a motor? Or maybe it's the dreaded motor...

Anyone had the same issue and can give me some insight as to what it is?

Stu

ive just replaced the scotchclip connectors my gaptech came with after i had issues with the remote opening function, i used choc block connectors & all works well now.
IMO the supplied connectors are not very good.
regards

no, i just turned the ignition off & ive had no problems.
put a pic of them on a post yesterday called "fixed"

if the light is flashing, then I suspect that's not the motor..

Mine would move back a wee bit, but then nothing - no flashing light.

Check the boot roof pocket shelf thing - raise it up and lower it a few times, see if the contact switch is just sticky?

Light goes yellow/orange (obviously different to red) to indicate the boot switch is at issue. So doesn't sound like it's that.

Flashing red with no roof motor noise is the characteristic of the motor having failed. Does the motor go at all? It sounds like it may only be the latch/unlatch mechanism operating?

Mine doesn't go yellow / orange - it flashes red - at least I don't THINK it goes orange? eeek.
Also - my roof motor is dead, and I don't get a flashing red when it thinks it's moving....

This a pre-post facelift differnce??

I'm thinking this is a gaptech connection thing. I'll replace the scotch locks later for some blocks. Sometimes its just the locking mech that moves and no roof motor sound, but then I try it again and the roof motor kicks in and it works.

So its either a gaptech thing or my roof motor is intermittently not working.

Not sure what the boot roof pocket shelf thing is and I certainly only get a flashing red light, but mine is a ore facelift.

bowser134, thanks for the offer - I'll defo shout if its the motor!!

Possibly - when mine was dead, i got the flashing red until I latched it again.

Mine, and others on here too, became intermittent before it completely gave up :(

i was told the deflector that mounts up high to the rear of the seats is cracked. i put my hand back there and sure enough it is cracked. i moved the crack assembly and tried the top and it went down all the way, once. i have the part but cannot figure out how to get to it to replace it. any thoughts?
