Roof issues

Hi, can any one help.
Thought I would try some winter sun roof down driving in my beloved in my 2013 Z4 E89.
Unfortunately on my return home as i initiated roof cycle to close it had a meltdown. Last night had to leave a car under a car cover to protect from interior from the elements.
It started with the boot clamp constantly releasing and re clamping when I set close cycle, which it did but boot clamp was still having a fit so I decided to go through roof cycle once again in hope the would reset. This was a big mistake as cycle stopped halfway through and red light flashing on boot open button. The clamp was going bananas trying to re clamp so I disconnected battery.
I am thinking it’s a microcontroller or sensor issue. I am hoping there is a way to manually return roof safely so I can at least drive to a BMW dealership or automotive electrician to have resolved properly. Does any one have any idea if this is possible?

Can't help you directly, but search for @RobbiZ4 and in his signature block you will see links to E89 roof fault finding and fixing.
He is the main man for these roof problems, so at least you have come to the right place.

You may find in useful joining @colb 's ZedShed Cymru group. Col Im sure will be along and will reach out.

Thanks for the pointer, looking forward to contact with Col, as mentioned my main priority now is to get my Z4 safe to drive or at least lock up until I can get a repair
👍

Looks like the usual damaged boot lid wiring lock issue which you compounded by trying to operate the roof …

Robbi will confirm

Hi, I run the South Wales Zedshed Cymru Whats App Group with members with Z3 and Z4 cars, its an enthusiasts group and the Shed is my home garage with a lift in it where we help each other out with jobs on our cars. As to your roof problem I can scan it to see what sensors are at fault and maybe get the roof closed at least. PM me your mobile phone number and i will add you into the Group. The Shed is located in Newport by the way.

To use the dm feature click on “colb” logo. It is there. Warning, remove your phone number from show

@Roy D. - you likely don't have enough posts yet to be able to use that option.

Best edit/delete phone number from your post once contact has been made. Oh and welcome and hope the roof gets sorted quickly!
