Roof issues - related to window regulator?

Dropping my car down to the guys at Forza West today for a oil service, replacing the drivers window mechanism and a couple of other bits.

When setting off I thought I would drop the roof (I can manually push the drivers window half way down). The roof drops to within 8 inches off full and stops. Is this likely to be linked to the programming of the steps to lower the roof being out of sync due to the broken regulator???

I wouldn't think so. My understanding is the system only needs to see a certain window drop to work normally. If one dropped a working window halfway the roof would work normally, I don't see how your situation is much different. Unless the sensor is inside the regulator mechanism so it cannot sense the actual window position, as the regulator is defective?

I've no idea really, just thinking out loud. There's a thread on here somewhere recently about their roof dropping to a similar distance short of full drop. Not sure if the situation was resolved. Could be yours is related to this and not the regulator?

Well it was the whole regulator that was knackered. Being changed today.

I have a HORRIBLE feeling that there was bottle of water on the rear parcel shelf that has rolled to a corner and lodged itself.......how embarrassing would that be !!!!!!

Hope you got it sorted mate. Out of interest how much was the supply and fit of the new window regulator as I'm about to get some quotes for mine.

Thanks, dan
