Roof issue **Not Common Issue**

Ok I have a 2008 alpine white 2.0
I purchased the car and removed the roof to clean around drainage etc and also to check damp in motor...
All fine
Refitted and worked absoulty perfect for 12 months...
Last week when I pressed the down button the orange light appeared with no movement at all!
Not even unlatching..
Oviously I checked parcel shelf etc was down and all seems fine with micro switch..
I reset the battery and tried again.....
Nothing....
Repeated again and the roof unlatched then started to fold but stopped then when I pressed down again it started and stopped etc to the whole way down....
I then checked was motor working by closing the roof up and all was fine....
....... Therefore motor is working 100%

Anyone any suggestions why this might be?

My roof motor refused to work ie bringing it up after driving to work so had to operate manually now seems dead .
Any advice?.
