So I had my roof off today to sort out the motor. It only took 1:30 with shipkillers instructions to take it off.
Upon getting it off, it looks like someone else has had my roof off before me buying to either replace or repair the motor as the box was half sealed with some rubbish glue.
A few things I noticed when doing it...
The hydro unit isn't exactly the same the numbers for the connections were on opposite sides, but no worries
I was very careful to get the electric connectors on the correct way too. Same as I took them off and followed shipkillers photos... But somehow when i connected everything up, it was wrong. Instead of removing the roof again and unsealing my new box, I decided to reverse the cables behind the interior trim. Success! Saved myself at least 30 mins.
In total it took 5:30, as said 1:30 for the roof off, and then 4:00 to get the motor swapped and roof back on (puttin it back on was a pain)
Couldn't have done it without shipkiller but the job itself isn't technical so would do it again rather than have BMW charge me £1200.
Also, does anyone know the purpose of the + shaped plugs on the bottom of the drain holes? As far as I can see they are just for trapping dirt and blocking the drains, so I've removed mine, water now flows freely out
If anyone in the b'ham area ever needs help, im more than happy to.
