Roof failure / Motor relocation Norfolk

Afternoon all!

So I'm assuming I've got the dreaded roof motor failure.. windows drop and roof unlatches, but then nothing. Do these symptoms sound about right? Is there anything else it could be? The motor was replaced by the previous owner in 2015 but not relocated. Having lowered the roof manually I can see down into the driver-side drain area and there is water in there :x

I've searched and read plenty of posts but can't seem to see it would be anything else?

If that is the case, and with fingers crossed the motor can be rescued, what would be the closest option for getting the motor relocated? I am based in Norfolk. Again, through some searching it appears people did manage to do some motor relocation days but these were a few years in the past and I imagine most members have already had this done now

I've seen members liked Number5 offering the service which would be perfect, but Bristol is one hell of a drive!

Hi there, I've relocated the motor before and whilst I may not be the quickest by any means I will get it done for you.
As in, I'd plan a day over here, or drop the car off with me. I'm no 'less than an hour' merchant, though that's mostly down to the time it takes me to get out of the boot again.
What I have NOT done is revived one once it's dead.
I am more than happy to assist you in relocating it which is the most difficult step.
Once moved then we can contact Alan (Number5), or Stuart (Bigwinn) who I'm sure would both be able to assist further.
While we're at it we can get the drains cleared and hopefully reduce your all up weight a little. That water is sapping your performance! :wink:

Getting out and pulling it back into the boot is the hardest part of the relocation, take a look at this youtube video to see how its done

Breaking the tie wrap(s) that hold the motor canister in the well is the hard part but one thats achieved the canister will lift up and be able to be pulled back into the boot where its easy to dismantle and fix. If its simply waterlogged then a good clean with WD40 will drive the water out. If its corroded and seized then giving it a bath in diesel will probably revive it to working order followed by another dousing with WD40 to rinse the diesel out of it. Bench test the motor detatched from the pump by giving it 12v once its running swop the connections to run it in reverse before refitting to the pump body ensuring the drive pin is fitted correctly. Reposition it at the side of the boot behind the carpet, you will find a bracket under the side carpet that can be used to attach it to using zip ties.
