Roof edge starting to separate/split

Well, I think I finally found out how water is getting in the boot when I wash the car… noticed that the roof is starting to split/separate on both sides of the car.
I’ve had the car 8 months and not noticed this before. Looks like the hardened rubber has started to split.

Anyone had this before?

Roof was replaced in 2018. The car is covered when not in use and I don’t drive in the rain. Wondering if there’s a fix.

By rights at that point of ingress it’s going to run down into the two wells at the b pillar and out via the drains (if not blocked)

I don’t think that would go into the boot area

Have you checked the usual suspects on the boot like the light membranes and high level brake light?

Yeah checked all the usual places. The car is usually parked nose up (drive is on a slope) on my drive which is why I suspect this was possibly one of the causes of the ingress during a wash. Now I tend to wash it nose down.

However, the roof splitting is still quite an issue!!

I saw another one with a replacement roof that had started to split along the seal at the lower rear edge. I can only assume they are not made as well as the originals.
