Roof drains

I'm not actually sure about that, you can see them from inside the car yes, but I'm not sure how the roof run off gets to the drain, i think as its a 2 layer roof the second layer is waterproof and the water runs off this into the drain?

You may be too late then ..if the water has got above the soundproofing seal, then it will have filled the soundproofing and even cleaning the drain won't empty the water out of the canister that the motor sits in
Rich-hill, it sounds like you're still applying water with the roof up? You will get very little water through the drains this way, it has to leak around the edge of the hood fabric under the sill. Slow at best.
Lower the roof, ensure you've identified the correct locations, and pour a whole bottle of water on each side. It will be quite obvious if the drains are working, as all the water should come out within several seconds. If not, clean as noted above.

On the drivers side with the roof down ,get a length of mains electricaltabbie said:Any advice please on cleaning/checking drain holes are clear ideally without using a air compressor? I know I can pour water over the roof and check it drains but I worry this may damage the roof motor if the drain is blocked. Thanks
cable approx 30cm,split it and with a bit of poking around just in front of the hinge you will find the drain hole.
You can clear the drain hole on the passenger side with the same piece of wire ,but you will have to work from under the car.
I use a vacume cleaner to clear the crap out of the wells .Tape some small diameter pipe to the flexi pipe .Makes the dyson a bit grubby :?

:friends:The water either seeps through the "waterproof" fabric or around the edge where it attaches to the boot/wing cowling.Rich-hill said:
Below the cowling is a trough to collect drips and move water towards the sump and drain holes. This trough is inside the car, though not easily visible.
If the drains were completely blocked, the sump could fill so much that it would overflow into the passenger compartment.

Earlier I forces my hand in begin the sets where the big plastic tray was a poked around aprox where the drain holes are roughly I could feel very very small drops of water. I initially was worried but from yur description this seems normal. When I put the roof down an looked at the hole local I couldn't see any water therefor they must be draining
I tried your method of checking the drain holes at the weekend Maxman,but the cable would only go a short distance before I felt resistance. I tried both sides from the bottom of the drain holes and both sides where the same with the roof raised. Is this normal,do the drains narrow towards the top? I know the drains are clear as I ended up pouring water down them to check. You can only access the drain on the right side from the top. If you peer around with a torch, you can barely see it. It's the same nominal diameter at top and bottom best I can judge by eye. The bottom fitting slightly constricts the free area where it pushes into the main tube.
Vigorous probing may not be advised, if there is a wad of debris you succeed in pushing out, there is a chance you will also push out or loosen the push fit end fitting. It may become lost if not attended to. Probing after removing the end fitting could be a good idea though.

I found that my right side drain was blocked when I kept finding water in that side of the boot ,I thought at first it was the light seal until I took the boot lining out and saw the water running down. I don't think it can get into the passenger compartment
I ended up pushing a piece of flexible steel cable down from the top,guided through a piece of 15mm copper pipe to get it in the top of the hole, and found a small y shaped twig had been the cause of the blockage
