Roof drain valve issues

Hi people thanks for the invite. I've just recently bought a z4 e85 2.5 and been fitting new brake pipes and braided flexis on all corners, I am lucky I guess that my z has been dry stored most of its life, but know that the roof drain valve issue is a constant problem with these. I have came up with something that could help with that. I just bought a meter of PVC tubing with an outer OD of 14mm, and it fits snuggly into the plastic valve, being florescent it's easier to notice a blockage. I'm going to fix it into the recess with some silicone and cut a 16mm hole on the splash guard with an open grommet.
I think that a small mesh drain would be better at the end to stop debris getting back into it. 🤔

Just take the rubber end off totally. It’s to prevent insects building their home in the pipe which isn’t an issue in the U.K.

When the drain blocks it starts at the top with leaf debris and so on.

I’d still get the motor relocated though.

I don't like the fact that they drain into the splash guard because it can build up. My car has been garaged since buying it in January, but when it was driven to me it was raining, and there were no water leaks until I jacked up the rear, then it came gushing from the front of the sill guard. I suppose it's preference really. I'm definitely re locating the motor though...
Thanks for your message and

Not totally sure what you mean - if i pour water over my roof i get two puddles of water on the floor just in front of the rear wheels. It shouldn't be getting into the cills.

If someone has previously tried to rod the drains it is possible that they have dislodged the join between the top and bottom sections. If this happens then water can escape at the join and get into the sills instead.
