Roof down with key fob?

I had to have it activated by an indi on my 07 Z4. Some main dealers wont do it due to safety issues.

I think it's just the roof up from the remote that the dealers won't do. H & S reasons, you might chop your partner's head off when you close the roof :) Mine opens and closes off the remote, closing set by an indi.

Agree
that's my experience with the closing ...need to find an Indy

Not sure if this will work for everyone but may be worth a try..... I press and hold down the "boot open" button on my key fob. This opens the roof for me.

Perhaps the eject seat option. Roof open first, then the chair goes :)

 gonna have to try that one next time the g/f's giving me greif :D

Hi all
I am new the the site, :) just bought my zed, 56 plate... I can open the hood with the key but cannot close it with the key, reading the last posts and I right in saying I need to get its program in...? And who or what is indi. :? Oldie. :driving:

Indi - independent, usually a BMW specialist garage that is not a dealer. And yes, you will need to go to one to have the close using fob activated. Or buy a Gaptech module - £50-100 depending on the version you get, dead easy to install - www.gap-tech.co.uk.

Yeah was also thinking gap tech

I have one. Out of all the mods I have done to my car only two will come with me to any new one (unless it has them) - Gaptech and Intravee. Wouldn't be without either

Mine has to be pressed 3 times. The first time opens the driver's door. The second press opens the passenger side door. I have to press and hold the button down the the third time to put down the roof.

Went gaptech too, putting it back up is a fine art with the key fob, you have to get the timing perfect, it's like making love to a beautiful woman. This feature usually decides if the roof goes up when I go in a shop, because standing there pressing the buttons like a mad scientist looses all the cool factor. My sister wanted it for her mini but I had to point out there isn't a motor to undo those two catches first, he he.

I have it down pat now. Patience is the secret, as in all these things D)

I can do it 3out of 5 times but that's it, sometimes when i have to start all over again, I get muddled and make a right pigs ear of it. But if I do it in the car, I have the Incurable habit of turning the engine off half way through. I don't get the cool factor much, ha ha ha ha. My roof should be due a new motor soon with all the practice.

Last spring i actually forgot to close it meant 2 open and 1 close... Hadnt used it in 6 months or so!

I was parked infront of the gym too, with people looking through the big front windows while they work out.

Panicked and just pressed and held the close button till it closed... And and walked in sheepishly!

Ha ha ha, classic but you still didn't look as stupid as the people stood in the window who had paid good money to run on a machine whilst they look out of a window at a perfectly good pavement, always makes me smile. I'm the one who stands watching eating doughnuts and smoking a fag. :D
