Roof down, what to do when wet?

Cheers for all the replies guys, put my mind to rest. :thumbsup:

Unfortunately couldn't do the same this morning as roof had frost and the BMW computer said "no" with a ding and 3.0c poped up , otherwise it would have been a winner as it again was a superb morning for it.

Why would they put that in an Australian manual. It never rains there does it?

Yeah... there were some marks but I think over time our roadsters all get them (unless we keep the top up, in which case what's the point?). I have come to terms that my car is never going to look immaculate with the top up, as fabric roofs get marks on them... The marks tend to go a bit after cleaning, but then come straight back the first time it is dropped.

As for cold weather, as long as it is not frosted I would drop the roof... aside from anything else a frosted roof would probably put more strain on our ever so fragile roof motors.
 
My owner's manual suggests lowering the top when colder than -10C is not recommended, and somewhere else I read that the controller will refuse to operate when colder than -20C. Presumably, they are assuming dry conditions, as most would agree that lowering a top frozen with water would be foolish. I can't personally think of much reason to lower the top if it's sub-freezing, wet or dry.

As others have said,i also put my roof down in winter...but as also mentioned,if its frosty/icy then u could risk damage to the motor,etc from freezing. Good idea to not put it down if below 5degrees c,imo :thumbsup:
