Roof down operation - locking in place?

I'm not sure my roof is working correctly when it goes down.

It lowers the windows, roof goes down and then flops into the back then the windows come back up.

But is it supposed to lock the roof in the down position somehow? When my roof goes down in need to press down on it most times to click into the base - anyone else have to do this?

From some of the roof operation descriptions I've seen it sounds like it should pull itself into to the locked open position with a motor somehow??

Thanks

This is a common problem, one of the reasons BMW got rid of the lock for the facelift cycle. Also ensure the fabric is folding correctly. There is one fold that often tends to reverse itself. There's an SIB on this with a difficult to interpret diagram on how this fold should work. Sometimes just leaving the roof down overnight, if possible, can reinforce the folds so that it locks again. Many owners just get used to manually pushing it to lock, or simply leave it unlocked.

Just keep your finger on the open roof button a little longer. They'll come up a few seconds after the top sits down.

Agreed! my windows raise back up after a short delay.... Just keep that button pressed in :)

Great - id be interested in that SIB if it's around anywhere?? I'll do a search for roof folding but I didn't also know they did away with it in the LCI too
