roof down lock on pre-facelift z4's.

Whilst testing my newly fitted gaptech, my dad noticed my roof catches on something as it folds down. It turns out that mh roof wasn't going down all the way and was catching on the latch bit that sticks out. A bit of plastic on the lock/manual release thing had also broken off.

We have removed it for now but the roof still doesn't retract fully. This has been going on a while so isn't anything to do with the gaptech module.

Anyone had a similar issue? It doesn't lock as it doesn't go all the way down, but is a couple of mm's off. I've also heard that facelift roadsters don't have this lock? Is that true?

Can't see any thing like this in my boot.

A while back I tried to put my roof up manualy, to get to a flat Battery.

I was running around for a few days with the not fully retracted light on, after that. Thought I had bust something. I kept fiddling with the manual boot pull and it just sprang back into place properly, after much faffing.

(PS I did also find the charging points for the battery under the bonnet, dough :? )

Is the manual roof release is the thing with the red handle on? If so, when I try to pull that, it's very tight when the roof is down. Is that correct?

Also, do you have the press down button above the cubby hole door that doesn't appear to do anything? If so, under their is the roof locking mechanism on my car. Unsure on others.

See the 7th post down on this topic. It stops my roof locking down too.

Thankyou for that, just went and had a look and it seems to be folding correctly. I'll try and get a video of my issue as it's in the centre rather than the edges.
