Roof down from the key?

Hello

Ok is it possible to get my 53 plate 3.0i to be programmed so that I can lower the roof via the key? I.e press and hold, or 3 press and then hold etc?

Who could do that for me if so, and what am I going to be paying for it? I’m based in Essex.

i have the exact same feature, my car is a late 2003 53 plate 3.0i se. I had it done at a specialist, which is no where near essex im afraid, but i am sure there are others out there who can do it.

And yes there is a module which i know people have which does sound cool, its on my list as a 'to do'.

Ring around independent BMW garages, if they have an Autologic diagnositc they should be able to unlock the feature along with some others.

Where did you do yours Easty?

I rang my local specialist, sounds like they have the equipment (Autologic I guess) but they've never done it before so I'd be the guinea pig! I hear of people not being able to open their boot etc afterwards so I'm not sure about letting them mess around with it til they get it to work

He suggests that it is as easy as fitting a radio - it is not! 90 minutes for a first-time install is just a joke. You need to be able to solder, and you need to have a non-mains-powered soldering iron (i.e. gas or battery), and then allow three hours.

I installed the module on my car, and it works perfectly. However, I am a reasonably experienced degree-qualified mechanical and electrical engineer, I have worked on cars for thirty years, and I still found that the installation took some care and thinking about. Even then, I had to correct a mistake I made. So, be careful!

I thought this was a standard feature??? If I press unlock 5 times and hold, it lowers the roof.
