roof down after wash

a friend of mine, told he not to put the roof down after given the z a wash, this will cause the roof go out of shape.

is that true? :?

is just that we having a cold sunny day over her ein ireland i wanna give it aq wee wash and have a drive with my roof down!

Why wash the roof, i brush mine with a shoe brush, clean every few months if that...

Yeah, not from my own doing, mind... I think the previous owner didn't take too much care in that respect and parts of the roof has visible creases. I'd was it then go for a blast and air-dry it... you can then put the roof down on the way back

I would think that putting it down while wet will not itself cause any problems, if all you intend to do is take a short spin. I would however always let it dry open, so the fabric is stretched and never leave if down for more than a few hours unless bone dry, else you'll soon have a mouldy and green top.

After washing my car in the summer would go for a spin top down as long as it was bone dry never use any shampoo on the roof just a hose down this time of year may take a little longer to dry but as CJ suggested will dry in no time from a short drive as it does in the summer if you get a downpoor when you are out its not long before you can drop the top again.
