Hi Everyone,
I have a 2009 SDrive E89.
A few months ago I went to take the roof down (with the key) and after the windows all went down everything stopped and nothing else happened. No warning lights have come on, there was no strange noise or anything and worked fine up until this point.
BMW have looked at it but to be honest it's been there 3 times and they've given me 3 different possibilities so not sure if they even know!
They've said
- Could be the battery - so had that replaced, nothing.
- Mentioned the microswitches - have to take entire roof off (£400+)
- Now they've said the hydraulic pump is broken (£1,750 supplied & fitted)
I only ever go to BMW but the price for the new pump is a bit scarey considering this is the 3rd thing they've said it can be, so phoned around a few specialists and they've said they would be suprised if it was the pump, never had it on the newer hardtop only older soft top. One actually wants to look at it just out of interest as he's never had any issue like this.
Anyone experienced something similar? Also roughly what should the pump cost supplied & fitted? Getting very different prices.
