Hi all,

Just joined the site and hopefully someone can help me :)

My neighbours cat seems to love sleeping on the soft top roof. I have tried sprinkling pepper on the roof to deter it but that hasnt worked. I want to buy a roof cover to protect the soft top roof. I cant find anything on the net.

Does anyone know where I can buy from from? I live in the UK so international shipping shouldn't be a problem. I found this cover but its a bit too expensive: http://www.roadstersolutions.com/product237.html

Any help?

Many thanks in advance.

Andy

Welcome :D

I have the same problem... strangely though my two keep off it :?

I just use a hoover occasionally...

My cat likes my top as well. I bought a BMW fitted cover for the car and the cat stays completely off the car.

Hi Jarrow, where did you buy it from?

This cat is grey and really fluffy so it looks horrible on the roof. But. most importantly im worried he will scratch it :(.

My little sh*t of a cat perched himself on the roof when I wasn't looking

Had to approach slowly as to not scare him and cause him to scratch into it, but as soon as the little f**ker was off I gave him hell! Can't stay mad at cats though, so much entertainment!

BMW do a nice one for £70 that covers the windscreen and roof, its a perfect fit unlike the once linked. You could pick that up from your local dealer :)

Just a note, my neighbour has an Audi A4 cab and he needs a new outer roof lining. Everytime I come home late at night the neigbours cat is sitting on it. His roof now needs replacing. :(

LOL thats nothing, I left the roof open last weekend and the cat went inside for a good nose around... looked very pleased with itself curled up on the seat

Bless :D

I bought from a pet-shop a cat repellent spray.
Sprayed over the top and it worked fine.
No cats anymore sitting on the top.
Lasts for a week or so.

Thanks guys! Some good feedback!

£70 for a roof cover isnt bad at all. I think i might try the cat spray repellent first though. I tried pepper but that didnt work!

I'll let you guys know if the cat repellent works and if not..... roof cover it is!

I looked into cat spray however the ones I found said not suitable for material and caused discolouring so I decided against it :)

There is one though that it is suitable.
Actually it says that can be used in the house at the sofa corners, curtains, carpets, etc. so thats why i used it.
If i go to the warehouse i will check and tell the brand.

Maybe you could get a tomcat to wee on it? Should make them think twice before chillin up there

LOL @ pellet gun :)

Konas, it would be great to find out what brand you are referring too. I'll go to the pet shop on the weekend and see if i can pick one up.

Cheers
Andy

So seems to be a common problem then! Just got the Z and our cats decided he likes sharpening his claws on the hood :o he normally sticks to tyres!!!

Going to try that cat spray idea, i'm resorting to covering it at the moment which gets a bit boring every day.

I have the same problem, neighbour's cat seems to like to walk around in the mud before jumping on to my car, leaving a trail of muddy cat paw prints from the boot all the way to the bonnet...similar to a sport strip, in muddy cat paw prints. (usually happens on the day after I washed the Z'ed)

Sorry being so late. The brand is called 'apothol'.

The good thing is that after using it for about 2 moths, the cats stopped visiting my roof at all.
I believe that its a matter of a habit they had and after realising that there is no nice for them they stopped.
Its about a month now without cats, since I stopped spraying.

Put some Glycol/Antifreeze in a bowl for the cats to drink. They love it but it doesn't do their insides any good.
