Roof closure with key?

Hi all. I'm in the UK, and I know the e89 in other markets (US maybe?) can close the roof via the remote key, whereas the models here can only open it remotely.

Is it possible to retrofit this feature in the car?

Cheers,

Yes, the easiest way is with a smarttop... You'd hope there was a way of doing via coding, but no one has ever actually done it I believe.

If you have comfort access you can do it without smart top. Just hold the lock button down on the remote and see if it works? You must be close to the car for it to work.

Most cars never had comfort access, smart top is the easiest way to go if you didn't, gives plenty of other functionality as well :D

Smarttop is excellent if pricey, fitted mine this week in about 20 mins. Got an error light initially but a quick tap on the plug connection sorted it. Really like the folding mirrors on lock/unlock as well as the roof open/close from the key of course

Same for me, also like the single tap to open from the interior buttons, not tried the open while in motion function yet :D

If you have comfort access you will see a small 'hatch' on the back of your key for battery replacement.
The comfort access is also keyless start/opening so most people (me included) leave the key in their pocket. As a result it would never get charged so a replaceable battery is fitted.
