Roof clean and care

Hi All,

Recently bought a zed, but not collected it yet, it needs a thorough clean and the roof is a little mossy around the edges, what's the best stuff to use please?

Jon

Hi Jon!
I got my first Zed just recently too. I talked to my rep at the detailer shop and he suggested "Soft Top Clean & Protection Kit" from Autoglym. I purchased and used that and must say that I am quite pleased with the result. Some stains didn't not go out completely but on the other hand I was very gentle and only used sponge that comes with the kit. No brush or repeated applications of cleaner.

I have used Autoglym and the Turtle wax version and both seem pretty good. I would say Autoglym is slightly better at cleaning but there isn't much in it.

The protection of Autoglym appears more aggressive in the sense it more of effect to clear off if you have over spray.

I was recommended by a convertible roof specialist don't use the Renovo roof dye (same guy later featured on Wheeler Dealers with F1 Elvis) as though it looks good it'll cause issues later on and cosmetically makes things worse over time.

Hi Jonnyboyzed. Before you start any wet work, washing and scrubbing the roof you will get much better overall results if you remove as much loose dust, debris, grit etc from the fabric with the use of some appropriate brushes and a decent vacuum cleaner.
The circular horse-hair brush for Numatic Henrys is excellent and kind to the fabric roof at the same time.horsehair.jpg
I have a couple of Sonax interior/leather brushes which are soft and gentle and have a pointed end for getting in nooks and crannies.SONAX BRUSH.jpg
Also, I can recommend a rubber detailing brush like this onerubber brush.jpgGreat on a fabric roof.
If you are washing the roof using a pressure washer then stay a long way from the fabric with the nozzle....2ft at least. I have seen quite a few 'stripy' soft-tops where the fabric weave/nap has been ruined by getting far too close with the high-pressure nozzle
