Roof, Central Locking and interior lights not working

Hi, I've had a search and can't see this problem has been reported previously, if it has, sorry. I don't tend to use my Z4 over winter months although I do start it up and give it a little shunt now and again. Last Tuesday, I tried to start it and it was completed dead - no central locking etc. I jump started it (as per the manual) and everything seemed ok. I started it the next day, ran it for a while it was ok. On Sunday evening I heard a beeping, after about 3 hours I realised it was coming from the z4 which was parked outside. I thought the battery was dying so thought I better put it on a better charge. I moved the car to the garage and everything seemed to be working ok, at least the windows worked and interior light, didn't try the roof. I put it on charge overnight. The next day it started ok, however, the central locking wasn't working so I opened it manually and thought it must be because of the battery. BUT then noticed that the interior lights, windows and roof are no longer working  I don't know why, if there's any advice or guidance any of you have, I would be really grateful. My car is an 03 3.0, not sure what other info might be needed, fraid I'm not mechanically minded :?

hi and welcome - one simple rule - photos of the Zed on the site else the locals can get a bit upset

Someone posted the other day that their Zed had reverted to transport mode following a totally dead battery. This sounds very similar. It would be interesting if you could post everything that does not work and see if it is all the heavy current items shut down such as blower, hood, windows.

Anyway since you've charged it and assuming the battery is holding a good charge to spin the motor and light the headlights then my gut feeling is a trip to the dealer to reactivate it all.

Thanks for that and I'll make sure I put a photo on - I need to wash it first!!

I did read that thread and thought it sounded similar. My blower is working, as is the sat nav, radio, windscreen wipers. I'm sure it's only the things I've listed, to confirm, the hood, central locking, windows and interior light, oh yes and petrol cap.

Sorry about photo, I'll be sure to do it very , very soon

Only kiddin' re the photos, but we love to see Zed's.

It's difficult not to be alarmist with threads like this, but since much of the heavy equipment is working the ' transport mode' not be the correct route to follow. I do hate jump starting such cars, especially with totally dead batteries as the surge can destroy so much  .

Make sure you really do have a good battery (check it with a meter) as a dead battery is often damaged beyond repair and then have a look at the fuses and see if anything obvious is blown (which I doubt). After that I'm out of ideas other than an auto electrician or dealers
