Hi Guys,

Instead of going abroad, the wife mentioned either going to the Cotswalds or Lake District or anywhere else where we can just relax.

I'm thinking lots of greenery, nice views, open log fire, jacuzzi the works etc.

Can anyone here recommend a town/location or more importantly recommend a lodge/venue where we can stay in the UK that meets all this and more.

I'm thinking lake district personally. It would be great to open up the window and view the lakes. Anyone have a favourite place they stayed at in the lake district..?

the lakes are great :D

we have stayed here before and will again in July for a couple of nights:

Beechhouse kendal

if you want self catering/cottage we have used cottages4u several times - just don't go for the low rated places :) We have stayed here and here but they have since changed hands so cannot say how good they are now (were nice and cosy though).

It's a bit of a trek for you, but if you don't mind travelling have a look at www.limewoodhotel.co.uk

Nice hotel, great location and excellent food (head chef earned Michelin star for his last place).

just had a thought... if you use cottages4u and plan on taking the zed - best call beforehand to ensure the drives at the cottages are zed friendly!

A couple we have been too (before zed ownership) would not have been fun in the zed :o

to add another one, the peak district this time:

Allmore cottage owned by the previous owners of the two cottages in my previous post and much more up to date :D

we did this not so long ago cotswold inns have a look at there web site for offers
http://www.cotswold-inns-hotels.co.uk/content/index.htm we went to the bear at rodbrough lovely old hotel fantastc rural setting on rodbrough common not far from stroud and the food was fantastic in the resterant highly recomended

If you want to push the boat out, Sharrow Bay in the Lakes is terrific, or the Vineyard at Stockcross near Newbury is outstanding, both in the food stakes and the way it looks after people.....oh and it does the spa stuff as well....

try handpicked hotels we have stayed at their hotel in Edinburgh and it was excellent theyhave also won an award in sunday times travel magazine.... Great spas....

Well guys I have done a complete U-turn!!!!!!!!!! She always wanted to go to Italy..

Typical Me! :P

Booked parking at Birmingham Intl airport, booked a hotel and flights to Rome instead.

Need to get into the wifes good books! I guess its payback for the mods i have done to the Z4!

She does however think we are still going to the Lakes though. We will no doubt do this some other time..

Cheers
