Roll Hoop Rattle

Had the car for 6 weeks now, 5 weeks of which has been spent trying to locate a rattle.

Turns out it is the silver plastic roll hoop cover on the passenger side. it only takes a gentle squeeze to stop it but is damn annoying.

Anyone had this or know of an easy cure, or is it a trip to the stealers?
Dave

A few pics of the car courtesy of BMW, will do some of my own when i get the time

The covers clip together and will prise apart using your fingers, I know some have applied silicone to help stop them squeeking. As said the dealer should sort it. In the meantime an elastic band round the hoop might cure it :)

Yes Maniac I did get it sorted.
I went back to the dealer and they replaced the roll hoop covers. Dealer did say it was a common problem and it is the rear part that comes loose. I believe it is some sort of ball and cup fixing that is the issue.

Interesting... I'm out of manufacturers warranty now (Insured warranty doesn't cover trim) so I've bought some felt tape that I'm hoping will sort this out. I'm not sure whether its the rear of the hoops or the actual plastic frame that covers the metal bars themselves. In any event, its all coming off, its all getting padded and its then going back on.

By which time no doubt I'll have found another noise to track down!

I would have thought it unlikely to be the hoops themselves, just the cheap plastic covers. Mine stopped when I put a tight elastic band around them, so that was a bit of a giveaway.
