Roll Bar Trim cleaning

Hi all, i have searched long and hard for any advice on how to effectively clean the roll bar trim covers behind the headrests of my roadster.

Over time the have developed small marks all over them which are very stubbord indeed to get out. Anyone had experience with this? if so what finally got them clean?

Thanks in advance

P.S i got a quote on the phone just now to replace them for £925 from bmw

That quote is indeed laughable.
Once the plastic is faded or pitted your best bet is to remove them and re-spray them.
Many go for a matt or gloss black look. When removing a word of warning - the clips are prone to snapping, this is a job I've been putting off for ages but am going to do this spring.

Thanks, Marlon.

Took some pics as I haven’t seen this kind of wear before, if it’s a paint job that’s required I have some metallic grey to match the bodywork to hand. I’ll be careful with the clips!
