I have managed to snap one of the studs that you bolt the rocker cover on to. Does anybody on here have any idea what I can do??? The nut with the rubber washer on it has most of the screw screwed into it

Am I screwed????

Just found the solution, thanks to BMW Oem, the studs are screwed into the head, take off the rocker cover and it is just a matter of unscrewing the snapped stud and screwing in a replacement, not like BMW to make something that simple

Yes, as long as you haven't stripped the thread in the relatively (compared to the steel stud) aluminium head, I'm which case it'll need a helicoil insert fitting.

That one's broken on my wife's car. Didn't notice until I can to take it all apart. The previous owner had just left the remains of the bolt in the hole so it looked fine so I hadn't got a replacement. In this case it's snapped off level with the head so I couldn't just use pliers to get it out so I've left it for now and the gasket isn't leaking.

Best taken off stone cold? Or like engine oil, with a little warm up?
Is seizing likely? Think I'll dab a bit of penetrating oil on each nut or bolt!
