Roadster warning light?

Dear All,

I have a 2004 3.0 Roadster. No problems at all with the roof motor which works fine. My question is this.... When you lower the roof, the windows lower first, then the roof and finally the windows come back up ....No problem. After anything between 2---> 15 minutes the red warning light starts flashing as if there is a roof fault.

When I press it to close everything works fine.

Any ideas?

I bet it will be because it has not latched into the middle latch behind your head when it is down.

It could be the above or maybe a loose hall sensor moving as you drive .

The catch is easy to access. In fact I have fully removed mine as it was marking/wearing the roof lining on mine. Mine was also not fully latching down, staying about 1cm or so from latching on most occasions, it never caused me a problem with lights on etc. although you can just gently press on the roof when its down and thats usually enough to get the latch to engage

You could just try unplugging the latch if its never catching properly. Surprisingly this doesn't seem to cause any problems or lights to come on and there are threads on here about removing it entirely as I have done if its marking the roof lining etc.
I believe approx 04/06 cars onwards don't even have it fitted so its not like BMW viewed it as crucial and probably took the view its more trouble than its worth so deleted it from most facelift cars anyway

Thanks for that. All set for Sundays jobs list. You are spot on as I checked by pushing the roof fully down and yes the light goes out. So may just unplug it.

Thanks
