I was always a fan of the Z4 ROADSTER SOLUTIONS CAR COVER having had one on my Z3. They are of good quality and the door protector side panels are a good idea. The only problem is the price when importing from the USA.
However as a suprise my wife ordered one without me knowing for my birthday back in April.
It arrived and was presented to me on my birthday.
Problem was it did not fit. The side straps were too short.
I contacted the company who asked me to return it which I did. In fairness to them they reimbursed the cost of returning it and all the additional import duties, VAT etc.
Some time later they emailed to say the cover had been incorrectly made and were sending me a replacement.
Some weeks later the replacement arrived. The straps on the side of the cover now fitted but the velcro straps on one of the wipers did not reach. I knew instantly what the problem was. The cover was made for a left hand drive vehicle and the wiper configuration is of course different on a right hand drive Z4.
I contacted them again and got the following reply..........

''I apologize, I was unaware of the difference between wiper arm/cover strap positioning on the Right-Hand vs Left-Hand drive Z4’s. I will be in contact with our manufacturer to rectify this oversight and we will send you a properly fitting Z4 Right-Hand drive roof cover.
We at Roadster Solutions will not knowingly accept having an unsatisfied customer''

I heard nothing for a month so chased it up with another email. Here is the reply.........

''Sorry, we were unaware that you were not using the cover.
We’ve not made any progress with the creators/designers of the roof cover, but another option we’d like to propose is for Roadster Solutions to hire someone in the UK to reposition the strap on your cover, making for a correct fit.
What do you think of plan B?
Would very much appreciate, if you could send us the name and number/email for a local tailor or seamstress for us to contact.''

I've now decided to do any alterations myself so I can after 5 months at least use the cover. I really didn't want the hassle of returning it to the USA again.
Since this all happened I see they have now amended their web site saying the cover is for left hand drive cars only.
I have posted this simply to help anyone who is considering using the company to make an informed choice.
 
Can you imagine getting that kind of service from a UK company? The Americans will (generally) go above and beyond. Whilst you did not take up their offer, they were prepared to do the right thing. :thumbsup:
 
That is how I found out what the problem was but unfortunately it is only designed to go on one way because of the stitching etc
Full marks for the idea though :thumbsup:
 
I have just received the following email from Roadster Solutions

''For all of the disappointment and inconvenience our roof cover has caused, we will credit your account for the cost of the roof cover''

You've got to say that is first class service. :thumbsup:
 
Roadster Solutions has always had good service. There was a recent change in ownership within the past year or so. The previous owner is and has been a member of our local ZSCCA Chapter and is now fully retired. He was in fact a founding member of our local chapter. At last count he has had 7 Zed's starting with an early Z3. It is good to learn that the new owner of Roadster Solutions is carrying on the tradition of excellent customer service.
 
I'm with everyone else here. Sounds like their reaction to the problem has been very good... full marks to them!
