managed to bad a used set from this lovely forum a year ago, I'm pleased to report they are used every single time i drop the roof down, however mine are looking alittle worn out , was wondering has anyone had them trimmed, was thinking of sending them off, having the vinyl outer covered removed and re-trimmed in nappa leather, just wondering if someone has done anything similar?

Who are you going to try ? Royal steering wheels did my gear knob as well as steering wheel.
Perforated leather could look good. Pictures when you've done it Beedub

Rather than leather, I wonder if they could be covered in the same fabric as the roof - might make it look more coherent across the rear

thats a great idea actually, didn't think of it, but i like the luxury element of having them done in nappa, maybe with a red stitch.

Do they still fit with the additional thickness though?
You can have very thin leather coverings so I doubt very much if that would be an issue if the existing covering was removed first....

Got me thinking though, I might be interested in doing something similar but with part roof material and part leather so that it would look something like this (stole Marlon's recently posted photo for this)

The material is a soft glued on vinyl or plastic, i doubt this will be painted nicely.... also because this would change the shape of the rear "painted" area i think it would look weird.

also the covering used is really thick, id guess removed its probably as thick as leather.

How about smoothed and painted to match the bodywork?
There are still the rubber seals in the way so it wouldn't be seamless - and, given that the substrate is plastic, it might be too flexible (god knows what would happen to the paint if the roof goes up while they're still in place as they tend to flex and then pop off)

the nice when you leave them in place and lift the roof is horrible :-( I've done it way to many times now....

I remember Pawnsacrifice once of the parish - having a piece of black masking tabe that he used to put over the hood lifting button when he put the roof panels in.
